Unexpected interlude

Clogged sewer line needs immediate attention. A day without showers or flushing, followed by a week with limited flushing, laundry at the neighbors and timed showers. We are now proud owners of a new HDPE line. Special thanks to Tim and Keith who helped dig down to the clogged clay pipes. Two full days of digging and carting off the earth, down to hard pack and carefully around the gas line, then we still had to hire someone to switch out the line to the street. Used a pretty cool system called pipe bursting where they feed a drill into the old pipe, and it bursts the old pipe while simultaneously dragging new pipe behind it. Interesting stuff, but an expense and inconvenience we hadn’t counted on right now.
